KW-ACRESAL TECHNICAL TEAM MEETS ON LATA GRAZING RESERVE*

Earlier today, the State 
Project Coordinator Kw-ACReSAL, Engr  Zubair 'Tunde Oloruntoyin meets with the State Technical team comprising of the Directors- Agricultural Services, MARD, Alhaji Mohammed Kabir Alhassan; Livestock,MARD, Mallam Ahmed Umar; Forestry,MENV, Alhaji Babatunde Mahmud; Focal Person, MENV, Mr Olumo AbdulRahman and the Kw-ACReSAL Technical Team on rehabilitation strategies of the Lata Grazing Reserve, Patigi LGA.

It could be recalled that the Lata Grazing Reserve Centre at Patigi LGA, Kwara State has been visited previously for an assessment before the project commences.

Having 20,000hectares of the grazing reserve, 1000hectares is to be scooped out as a pilot scheme for the other hectares.
The SPC, then constituted an adhoc committee comprising of the Director Livestock, MARD, Focal Person, MENV, Mr Olumo AbdulRahman, Kw-ACReSAL Technical Team: MIS,NRO,ESO and P.E., who will work on getting the baseline report and submitted before visiting the ETSU Patigi.
The meeting was meant to define, redefine and mapped out the necessary strategies for the implementation of the grazing reserve project as construction of access road, Installation of boreholes, Planting of economical trees, wire fencing of Layout, Rehabilitation of veterinary clinic among others.

The Agro-Climatic Resilence Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Hybrid implementation Support Mission was flagged off today in order to kick start the World Bank project implementation in the selected states. The Mission was declared opened by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, OFR ably represented by the Secretary to Kano State Government, Alhaji Uthman Alhaji. The Mission was held at Al-Murjan Hall, Bristol Palace Hotel, Kano State with participants cut across the Northern states and FCT for the project. Kwara ACReSAL State Steering & Technical Committee Holds Quarterly meeting* … __Chairman urged team on robust and good working relationship_

The State Steering and Technical Committees of the Kwara Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) held their quarterly meeting at the Ministry of Environment headquarters in Ilorin. The Commissioner for Environment, who doubles as the Chairman, Steering Committee of the ACReSAL Project in the State, Mallam Shehu Ndanusa Usman, while presiding over the meeting urged the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) to build a good working and robust relationship with the committee members in order to enhance a seamless, efficient and effective project implementation in the state. Mallam Ndanusa said the discussion would provide an opportunity for the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) and the committee to interact  with a view to be briefed on the project activities, their level of execution as well as offering useful contributions towards actualizing the project’s objectives. World Bank, NCRS, train ACReSAL Technical team on Application of GIS for sustainable landscapes Management

As part of efforts to ensure holistic landscapes management, the World Bank in collaboration with the National Centre for Remote Sensing (NCRS), Jos, Plateau State, has organized a five-day workshop to train ACReSAL Project technical officers on the application of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing Technology for sustainable landscapes management. The Five-Day Workshop is taking place from July 18th to 22nd July, 2023 at Steffan hotel and Suites, Rayfield -Jos, Plateau state has in attendance the Kwara State ACReSAL Technical team. The ACReSAL Project Implementation Manual (PIM) specifically identified training in catchment Management structures as one of the priority investments in watershed management.
