KW-ACReSAL Assures Synergy with KW-PPA*

The State  Project Coordinator, kwara ACReSAL Engr. Zubair  'Tunde Oloruntoyin has assured the Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (KW-PPA) of a robust and honest collaboration to enhance the sustainability and achievement of the project implemention in the state.

He gave this assurance today while receiving the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, who also doubles as the General Manager, KW-PPA, QS Raheem Abdulbaki and his team on a courtesy visit to the Project's Office.

Engr. Oloruntoyin applauded the agency for the commendation received from the state government on procurement plans and  job effectiveness in the state circle.

The State Coordinator in his welcome address stated that the project which is aimed at mitigating the menace of land degradation and climate based challenges calls for a multi-sectoral approach to the project management fortified with high level destructive technology adoption for an enhanced sustainable implementation of her activities as contained in the State ACReSAL 's having provisional approval by the WorldBank.

He stressed that the project execution will be imbedded on contract basis which will be the sole aim and major interest of the agency.


He then assures the agency that any contractor fit for the project implementation will be advised to register with the KW-PPA, not just as added Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) for the state but would also avail the government a record of companies, firms and consultants that have done that and their effectiveness and efficiency at it perhaps, such companies may be considered for more patronages.

Earlier, the General Manager KW-PPA, QS Raheem Abdulbaki who led the team  had told the ACReSAL team that the purpose of the visit was in line for the fulfilment of the local content which serves as the beneficiary purpose in soliciting for the citizenry active benefit in the cause of the implementing the project in the state.

He explained that one of the primary duties of the agency is to serve as an advisory body in handling procurement task with caution, hence, the need for all contractors secured for handling the project to be registered with the KW-PPA before carrying out any bid which will serve as a way of generating revenue for the state government.

Abdulbaki also pointed out that the collaboration will help the project work to the extent to which the laws of the project permits.

While appreciating the visiting team,the Project Accountant, Mrs Oluwakemi Balogun on behalf of the ACReSAL team in her vote of thanks lauded the KW-PPA team for the visit while assuring them of a good working relationship.

The visiting team had in attendance Directors from the agency and also having the host; Kwara ACReSAL Team in attendance.

Kwara ACReSAL State Steering & Technical Committee Holds Quarterly meeting* … __Chairman urged team on robust and good working relationship_

The State Steering and Technical Committees of the Kwara Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL) held their quarterly meeting at the Ministry of Environment headquarters in Ilorin. The Commissioner for Environment, who doubles as the Chairman, Steering Committee of the ACReSAL Project in the State, Mallam Shehu Ndanusa Usman, while presiding over the meeting urged the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) to build a good working and robust relationship with the committee members in order to enhance a seamless, efficient and effective project implementation in the state. World Bank, NCRS, train ACReSAL Technical team on Application of GIS for sustainable landscapes Management

As part of efforts to ensure holistic landscapes management, the World Bank in collaboration with the National Centre for Remote Sensing (NCRS), Jos, Plateau State, has organized a five-day workshop to train ACReSAL Project technical officers on the application of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing Technology for sustainable landscapes management. The Five-Day Workshop is taking place from July 18th to 22nd July, 2023 at Steffan hotel and Suites, Rayfield -Jos, Plateau state has in attendance the Kwara State ACReSAL Technical team. The ACReSAL Project Implementation Manual (PIM) specifically identified training in catchment Management structures as one of the priority investments in watershed management.
